ICBM SafeGuard Privacy Statement

Effective Date: April 27, 2026

Last Updated: April 27, 2026

1. Introduction

ICBM SafeGuard ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by ICBM Clothing Company / ICBM Magazine, is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ICBM SafeGuard Chrome Extension and its associated services at icbmmagazine.ca.

2. Information We Collect: SafeGuard analyzes supported webpage video elements locally in the user’s browser. No personal messages or private account credentials are collected.

We follow the principle of Data Minimization. We only collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide authenticity detection and license management.

  • License & Authentication Data: To provide "Pro" features, we collect your email address and a unique license key generated upon purchase via icbmmagazine.ca.

  • Media Metadata (On-Page): When a scan is initiated, the extension temporarily analyzes video technical attributes (e.g., resolution, aspect ratio, and frame consistency).

  • Local Storage Data: We use chrome.storage.local to store your Pro status and session token locally on your device to prevent repeated logins.

  • Non-Personal Technical Data: We may collect anonymous telemetry regarding the success or failure of a scan to improve our detection heuristics.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Validation: We use your license key to verify your subscription status via a secure POST request to our server.

  • Forensic Analysis: Technical signals from video elements are processed locally or sent to our secure API to calculate the "Authenticity Risk Score".

  • Service Improvements: Aggregated, non-identifiable data is used to refine our Sherlock-tier "fly-on-the-wall" detection methods.

4. Data Permissions Disclosure (Chrome Manifest V3)

As required by the Chrome Web Store, we disclose the following permission uses:

  • activeTab & scripting: Used strictly to analyze the video element currently in view on the user's screen.

  • storage: Used to remember your user preferences and license status.

  • Host Permissions: We only access video metadata on specific platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch) to provide authenticity scoring.

5. Data Retention & Security

  • No History Logging: We do not track or store your browsing history or the specific URLs of the videos you scan.

  • Encryption: All communication between the extension and icbmmagazine.ca is conducted over HTTPS using secure protocols.

  • Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. Payment information is handled exclusively by our secure processors (Stripe/Wix).

6. Your Rights (Canada - PIPEDA)

As a Canadian-based entity, we respect your rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to:

  • Request access to the license data we hold about you.

  • Request the deletion of your account and associated license data.

  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time by uninstalling the extension.
